Custom Die Cutting Services of Poron and Mylar Assemblies Manufactured for the Electronics Industry

This die cut assembly is used within a speaker assembly for a client in the electronics industry. These components contain a ring of poron, a shape of mylar and utilized a variety of our manufacturing processes. Materials preparation required that the poron sheet have a pressure sensitive adhesive and release liner applied to both sides. The sheet was then cut into strips to maximize yield and simplify handling. The sheet was then die cut, a kiss cut was applied in a ring shape, and the remaining slug was removed. Our manual feed punch press and interchangeable die system, featuring custom made jigs and fixtures were used to finish the ring. Our compound die stamping services were used to form the mylar shape.

Assembly consisted of the removal of the release liner from the ring only, then attachment of the mylar shape to the poron ring which is still in the strip. The assembled strips were then laminated to ensure proper bonding. The finished part measures 1.13" x 1.30" x 0.071", and is manufactured to tolerances of ±0.005". To date we've produced over one million of these components, with turnaround times of three to four weeks per order.
